What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnotic techniques in such a way as to bring about beneficial changes. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind sometimes described as an altered state of consciousness, a focused awareness, where you can experience deep bodily relaxation and a mental alertness.

Although deeply relaxed you are not asleep but awake enough to be aware, you know where you are, can hear people talking to you, but you remain completely absorbed in what you are doing.

In hypnosis the imagination rather than the intellect is active, and in this comfortable relaxed state the conscious mind "takes a back seat" to the sub-conscious and the therapist can then assist in activating the inner resources of the client to achieve realistic goals.
